Thalatta
A macro favourite in front of the Thalatta resort, with ghost pipefish, frogfish, harlequin shrimps and bobbit worms. Also a good choice for a night dive.
Thalatta lies in front of the Thalatta resort and is ideal for macro enthusiasts. The sand is full of life, with patches of coral scattered throughout, and the site lies inside a marine sanctuary.
The dive
The maximum depth is around 26 metres. The coral patches break up the sand and act as small oases for critters, so the dive works its way from patch to patch.
What you might see
- Robust and ornate ghost pipefish
- Warty, painted and hairy frogfish
- Harlequin shrimps, usually in pairs
- Bobbit worms, hidden in the sand with only their jaws showing
- Flatworms and nudibranchs
When to dive Thalatta
Good all year, by day and at night, with water temperatures of about 25 to 29°C. See when to dive Dauin.

Our tip
Consider diving Thalatta at night: our night dives go out every evening, usually around 5:45–6:00 PM depending on the site. After dark, a different cast of critters comes out on the sand.
Good to know
- Thalatta is a marine sanctuary. The standard sanctuary fee is included in our dive price; with a camera, add PHP 50 per dive.
- Keep your distance from bobbit worms; they strike very fast.
